First off, I just have to say that this was really so much fun. I've been wanting to try this for quite some time. Weaver Lake is 3.3 miles into the Jennie Lakes Wilderness in Sequoia National Forest.
The weather wasn't good. It was hot hiking out, then the clouds came. We got sprinkled on just a bit, then the sun came out again. The next day we woke up to clouds and a lot of wind. It stayed windy and cool the whole day. That second night, it poured rain and the wind blew hard the entire night. We woke up to much of our stuff being damp, including our matches. So we packed up camp in a jiffy, and headed back home.
Despite the weather, the kids had a good time. Weaver Lake was beautiful. We're planning on going back next year and hoping for better weather. The lake would be perfect for swimming, and a side day-hike trip would have been fun. We couldn't go too far because we had a fire going all day and did not want to leave it unattended.
Here is a photo link for our trip. We all have good memories despite the trying conditions. Weaver Lake Photos
